The finer details Couple: Cara Bruce and Ben Crockett Date: 3rd December, 2011 Ceremony venue: Kensington and Chelsea Register Office Reception venue: The Savoy, Strand
The day Hailing from Scotland, Cara and Ben opted for a destination big day in central London. “Once we'd decided to get married in the capital, The Savoy was our first choice,” Cara remembers. The famous hotel had recently reopened following refurbishment so it was perfect timing.
Memorable moments A favourite part of the day for both the bride and groom was their exit from the register office. “As we left after saying our vows, we were surprised to see a crowd of people had gathered across the street to watch us come out and see our family showering us with confetti – it was such a happy moment,” Cara recalls.

The finer details Couple: Gill Armstrong and Rob Reid Date: 1st October, 2011 Ceremony venue: Richmond Register Office Reception venue: Chez Bruce, Wandsworth, followed by The Bolingbroke, Clapham
The day Rather than a traditional reception, Gill and Rob enjoyed a long lunch with their guests at their favourite restaurant followed by a party in the evening. The orange, gold and cream colour scheme was put together with autumn in mind but the 30C heat on the big day was an unexpected but welcome surprise.
Memorable moments The happy couple loved everything about the day, including the intimate ceremony, the long lunch at Chez Bruce and the snaps they had taken on Wandsworth Common. “I was delighted my granddad, who is 90 years old, made it down to London from Newcastle for the first time since 1945,” Gill tells us.

The finer details Couple: Sherry Li and Tony Cui Date: 10th October, 2011 Venue: North Tower Lounge, Tower Bridge
The day Sherry and Tony travelled from China to celebrate their nuptials in the stunning setting of Tower Bridge. “After living in England for six years as a student from the age of 17, it feels like my second home. As soon as we got engaged, I decided I had to show my husband-to-be the beautiful city and he agreed it was where we should get married,” Sherry explains. They had an intimate day with just 15 ceremony guests, most of whom had travelled from China to be there.
Memorable moments “The one thing that really stands out is the blessings strangers gave us as we walked underneath the bridge while having photographs taken. It seems commonplace in England but it was a new and special experience for us,” Sherry recalls.

The finer details Couple: Sophie Manthos and James Scarff Date: 12th November, 2011 Venue: One Great George Street, Westminster
The day Sophie and James celebrated their nuptials in the grand setting of One Great George Street's Great Hall with a winter theme. The red and white colour scheme complemented their festive style perfectly and the bride's red dress made a stunning statement. Sophie held a bouquet of white roses while the bridesmaids had classic red versions.
Memorable moments “Seeing each other for the first time was a part of the day that will stay with us forever,” says James. “Sophie has significant anxiety issues so we were all very proud that she managed to enjoy the whole day without any tears or uncomfortable moments,” he adds.
