Early days…
Rosena and Tudor met at Cambridge university but it was some time before romance blossomed. "Rosena was dating another guy at the time, but we become good friends and often chatted on the phone," recalls Tudor. "After graduating she moved to London and called me to say she was in town. This time she was single and I arranged dinner. We chatted in the restaurant until closing time and had the most amazing time."
The proposal…
Love quickly grew and Tudor planned a surprise proposal: "I suggested we get dressed up, go out for dinner and make it a special night," he says. "After the meal I went outside and hailed a taxi, asking the driver to take us to the The Howard Hotel at Temple. I collected Rosena and blindfolded her in the back of the cab. We entered the hotel, with a few strange looks from other guests, and headed to a penthouse suite overlooking the Thames, which I'd secretly had decorated with candles, roses and chocolates. I got down on one knee, asked her to take the blindfold off and, ring in hand, asked her to marry me."
The venues…
The Waldorf is a jaw-dropping venue and when we went to see it I could see myself walking down the aisle immediately. The staircases and balconies were gorgeous, the marble floor was beautiful and it had been the same for 100 years, so had a really timeless feel.
The dress…
"I went for a bespoke gown and tried to make it a perfect mix of Asian and western styles. It was a fishtail-style gown with a long train and was covered in Swarovski crystals. I felt like a princess! My four best girlfriends Bahareh, Fatou, Jo and Sarah were my bridesmaids. We designed the outfits together, choosing an Asian style and a colour they all loved and knew would suit them." Rosena told us. "I wore an ivory-coloured outfit, to match Rosena's gown, which incorporated some western details. My ushers wore more traditional Asian outfits, in dark blue, to complement the bridesmaids" Tudor explains.
The decorative touches…
For the table names we used the word love, written in every language we can speak, or from countries we have visited together. The centrepieces were made-up of tall white lilies, which created a simple, elegant and stylish look.
The best bits…
We fell in love in London and go everywhere on our moped so we wanted to take our guests to our favourite places. We hired two big red buses, two of our friends were dressed up as conductors and the bridesmaids handed out snacks and candy.
The honeymoon…
"Being with my wife on what seemed like a deserted island was the best part of the honeymoon. We went to three different islands which were all magical" Tudor told us.
